Job Description

The Position:

The Programme Officer maintains collaborative relationships with all programme and project team at the CO, and operations staff as well. Internal contacts include the Head of Office and the CO's programme/ technical team and the LACRO team. External contacts include other UN agencies in country and counterparts in Country programme activities. You will report to Head of Office

Job Purpose:

The Programme Officer assists in the design, planning and management of UNFPA's country programme by analysing relevant political, social and economic trends and providing inputs to project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks. The Programme Officer assists with programme/ project implementation by using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures, as well as by monitoring results achieved during implementation.

You would be responsible for:

Participates in the identification, formulation and follow up of the country programme and component projects by compiling and analyzing information in the subject areas of UNFPA assistance to the Government, drafts project documents and work plans and prepares tables and statistical data.

Evaluates project and programme activities, establishing and implementing mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results, conducting field visits, participating in review meetings and evaluation missions and preparing regular inputs to status and progress reports. Analyzes factors affecting the achievement of results, recommends corrective actions and follows up on recommendations. Monitor projects expenditures and disbursements to ensure delivery is in line with approved project budgets and to realize targeted delivery levels.

Expedites and coordinates project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies facilitating timely and efficient delivery of project inputs.

 
Qualifications and Experience: 

Education:  

Master’s degree in public health, medicine, or other related social science field is desired. The degree must be directly related to the substantive area identified in the job description of the post

Knowledge and Experience: 

Minimum 7 years of professional experience in the areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health or Rights. Experiences on issue of HIV / AIDS, Gender Equality, Gender Based Violence, Sexually transmitted disease, adolescent health, and prevention of maternal mortality are welcome.

Proficiency in current office software applications

Languages: 

Fluency in oral and written English is required.
